5D-Eye Lasik laser vision correction

лазерная коррекция зрения методом 5D-Eye Lasik

5D-Eye Lasik laser vision correction is a unique opportunity to get excellent vision and to get rid of glasses and contact lenses forever. Eximer Ophthalmology Clinic was the first in Ukraine to offer this safe and reliable way for critical vision correction over 20 years ago. Since then, thousands of people have gained excellent results and have forgotten about their bad eyesight. Today, Eximer Ophthalmology Clinic provides a full range of laser vision correction methods. The excellent results are possible also due to individual approaches based on medical indications and diagnostics of the visual system.

Laser correction by 5D-Eye Lasik method

The 5D-Eye Lasik method (LASIK — Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is the most common method of excimer laser-assisted vision correction. It is a safe, painless, and highly predictable procedure that allows you to regain good vision with the shortest recovery time.

Laser vision correction consists of changing the cornea refracting power by giving it a new shape through laser treatment so that light beams can be focused precisely on the retina.

How does the laser form a new corneal surface?

Laser vision correction is based on the process of tissue transition from solid to gaseous state under the light, which is called photoablation (vaporization). The excimer laser radiation forms a bi-atomic gas molecule in an excited and highly unstable state. The “life cycle” of this molecule is rather short. It disintegrates instantly, just in milliseconds. Its disintegration leads to lightwave emission in the ultraviolet range. Exposure of the corneal tissue to such radiation in a given range causes intermolecular bonds to disconnect, resulting in the evaporation of a part of the tissue.

Photoablation is not accompanied by an increase in the temperature of the surrounding tissues, so, contrary to popular misconception, there is no “burning out” of the cornea during laser correction. With every pulse, the laser removes a layer 0.25 µm thick, which is approximately 1/500 of the thickness of a human hair. The result is a precisely measured new cornea shape, which makes it possible to correct almost all types and degrees of refractive anomalies.

Peculiarities of the 5D-Eye Lasik method

During 5D-Eye Lasik vision correction, an excimer laser is applied to the inner cornea layers. The aim is to preserve the upper epithelial layer which serves as a natural protective lens of the eye after the correction. This method excludes painful feelings after the surgery, the risk of corneal opacity and image distortion, and minimizes the recovery period.

A corneal tissue flap is formed to gain access to the inner layers of the cornea. A special device called a microkeratome is used to do this. The flap is folded back and laser treatment is performed on the inner cornea layers. After the excimer laser is completed, the flap is returned exactly in its original place and is reliably fixed by corneal collagen.

Advantages of 5D-Eye Lasik laser vision correction:

  • Stable predictable result;
  • No painful sensations;
  • Quick laser exposure;
  • Fast vision restoration;
  • No adverse effects;
  • Wide range of application: myopia up to -15, hyperopia up to +6;
  • Good vision for years to come.

Laser vision correction result

Laser vision correction with 5D-Eye Lasik method enables to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism quickly and painlessly without any serious limitations afterward. Laser correction not only provides excellent vision but complete relief from glasses and contact lenses, as well as the restrictions associated.

After the 5D-Eye Lasik correction is done, a person gets a clear vision in 1-2 hours. As a rule, people return to their daily routine the next day after the correction.

Equipment for 5D-Eye Lasik laser correction

SCHWIND AMARIS is the latest laser, making the procedure of vision correction as safe and predictable as possible, and rehabilitation as comfortable as it could be. This is done with the unique 5D technology. Amaris is a laser system featuring a very fast eye-tracking system during the correction, including on aspherical surfaces. This is enabled through a unique 5D technology that is fixed on five axes. The laser beam affects the cornea with maximum precision. External factors do not influence the result of the procedure. Every patient’s eye is different, and this must be taken into account when correcting the eyesight. The new excimer laser has state-of-the-art software. It is used to choose a solution to ensure an excellent result regardless of the complexity of the case. AMARIS is an intelligent thermal control system. The pulses are distributed individually and the thermal load on the cornea is minimized. During the surgery, the cornea is actually not exposed to heat. Thus, the recovery is quick without making the patient face any difficulties or inconveniences in everyday life. The innovative technology of corneal tissue vaporization that provides two-level ablation (laser vaporization) is another major feature of the Amaris system. Therefore, not only visual acuity is restored, but also its contrast, brightness, sharpness, and quality of twilight vision. Please note: full vision recovery occurs 3-4 hours after the procedure.

To form a corneal flap, a special Moria Evolution 3 high-precision device is used, which allows to improve significantly the quality of laser correction. It helps to form a corneal flap according to individual parameters (required to preserve corneal integrity), while its attachments and settings enable correction according to a unique thin flap technology, which is recommended for patients with certain corneal peculiarities.

Facts about the 5D-Eye Lasik method

  • Not a single case of eyesight impairment due to laser exposure has been registered in the whole history of the 5D-Eye Lasik method application.
  • More than 95% of people having their eyesight restored by 5D-Eye Lasik would recommend this procedure to others.
  • The whole procedure takes 10-15 minutes (both eyes).
  • There are equal numbers of women and men among those who have recovered their eyesight using the 5D-Eye Lasik method.
